Request City of Chicago to Allocate Abandoned Property for Car Enthusiast Gatherings

The Issue

I am Daniel Franklin, founder and owner of Metal Militia Motor Club. As a passionate car enthusiast and car meet/show event organizer, I have firsthand experience of the challenges we face in gathering peacefully and assembling due to restrictions and special ordinances created to hinder us. We are not just enthusiasts; we are a community that shares a common love for cars, but our passion is often misunderstood.

Chicago has numerous abandoned properties that could be put to better use. According to the Chicago Tribune (2018), there are over 10,000 abandoned buildings in the city. Allocating one such property as a designated space for car enthusiasts would not only solve our problem but also help revitalize these unused spaces.

This petition calls on the city of Chicago to consider our request seriously. By doing so, they would foster an environment where car enthusiasts can gather without fear or hindrance while contributing positively towards urban renewal efforts.

By allowing car enthusiasts to gather you are bringing in life and revenue to a place you otherwise wouldnt have. Every event we have hosted has shown that there is a revenue increase to surrounding restaraunts and buisnesses that otherwise would not be there.

We urge you all - fellow car lovers, community members who believe in utilizing public spaces effectively - sign this petition and support us in making this dream come true!
