I am a resident of Berne, Indiana, and it deeply concerns me to witness the growing unease within our community regarding the actions of the Community Board members (John & Dwight) of the Berne Nuisance Board. There have been increasing reports from neighbors and fellow residents about these community board members engaging in activities that seem to surpass their designated role. Specifically, there are claims of These Community board members observing, photographing, and loitering near private properties, sparking fears of privacy invasion and harassment.

The role of the Nuisance Board is crucial—it ensures our community remains a pleasant and well-maintained place to live. However, such responsibilities should be conducted with the utmost respect for personal boundaries and transparency. When actions by the community board members seem intrusive or overreaching, it can erode public trust and create an environment of suspicion.

The primary mission of such a board should be to promote safety and well-being, not to impose undue anxiety or stress on residents. It is crucial that the activities and scope of authority granted to these board members are clearly defined and communicated . A formal review of their conduct ,procedural guidelines and removal from the Nuisance board is necessary to restore confidence From  their  actions and how they ran operations representing the Nuisance board. 

Why is this review so important? Consider this: trust is the cornerstone of any thriving community. If people feel that their privacy is being compromised, it can lead to discord and a fracturing of community spirit. Furthermore, if there is reasonable suspicion that boundaries have been overstepped, it can set a precedent that allows for continued overreach, which we cannot permit.

We are asking for an official review to investigate these claims and, where necessary, to implement stricter guidelines to prevent misuse of authority and removal of the Community Board members(John & Dwight). The goal is to ensure that the board fulfills its duties responsibly and within the legal framework without infringing on personal rights. Such a review will also provide clear information to both the board and the residents about what is expected and permissible behavior.

It is vital that the city of Berne prioritizes this review, ensuring our community members feel secure and respected in their own homes. We urge the local government to take these concerns seriously and to act swiftly.
