To Southaven High School Administration, Athletic Department, and DeSoto County Schools Leadership

We, the undersigned alumni, former student-athletes, parents, supporters, and members of the Southaven High School community, respectfully submit this petition requesting a formal review of the leadership and direction of the Southaven High School football program and consideration of a change at the head coaching position.

Over recent years, our football program, once a source of immense pride, has faced challenges that have affected not only the performance but also the morale of the athletes involved. As supporters and members of this community, we have observed a noticeable decline in both the competitive edge and the supportive environment that should define our school sports. Alumni, parents, and current students have expressed dissatisfaction, citing poor management, inadequate training regimes, and an apparent lack of strategic direction as key issues.

According to reports and firsthand accounts, Southaven High School football has struggled with a losing record in the past four seasons, a stark contrast to the successful history we once celebrated. Furthermore, we have seen a decrease in player participation rates, increased complaints about leadership, an immense number of transfers OUT of the program and a growing sense of disengagement among athletes.

We believe these issues are not insurmountable but require immediate attention and a shift in leadership. Positive changes in leadership can drive a revitalization of the program and enhance student-athlete experience, leading to a stronger community spirit and better outcomes both on and off the field.

We call upon the administration of Southaven High School, the Athletic Department, and the leadership of the DeSoto County Schools to initiate a formal review of the current football program. This should include assessing coaching effectiveness, resource allocation, and strategic planning. We also propose involving key stakeholders, including student-athletes and their parents, in the decision-making process to ensure transparency and community alignment.
