Request a faster train service from Shepperton to London Waterloo
The Issue
Living in Shepperton, I've always been frustrated with the train service to London Waterloo. The journey takes between 55 to 58 minutes, a significant contrast compared to the surrounding areas of Walton-on-Thames, Staines, Weybridge, Ashford, and Feltham, where train times average between just 22 to 38 minutes. What's more, despite the extended travel time, we incur nearly identical fares to those travelling from these neighbouring locations.
Shepperton residents deserve a more efficient and faster train service to catch up with the standards experienced by our nearby communities. It's not just about time and money; it's about equity and improving the quality of life for those who commute daily to London for work, education, or leisure. The prolonged journey not only impacts productivity but also takes away precious time that could be spent with family or pursuing personal interests.
Therefore, I urge South Western Railway to reassess and improve the train service from Shepperton to London Waterloo. Implementing a faster service could involve reviewing current train schedules, adding express services, or even upgrading infrastructure to increase train speeds. This change would bring Shepperton in line with other areas, making it a more desirable place to live and travel from.
The need for change is supported by reliable statistics and passenger feedback that I, along with the Shepperton community, have gathered. This data clearly shows our commute times and fares are out of alignment with neighbouring areas—a disparity that can no longer be overlooked.
I call on all fellow travellers and residents to support this petition. Together, we can pressure the authorities to act and bring about the necessary improvements to our train service. Sign this petition to help transform our daily commutes and ensure Shepperton gets the train service it rightly deserves.
