The Issue

As a resident of the Rivershire Place subdivision, I am deeply concerned about the traffic safety at the intersection where our community meets State Route 101/Industrial  Blvd. Every day, I attempt to turn into our neighborhood, only to find myself in a precarious and unsafe situation. The current setup has no specific dedicated turn lane, and though a gore or median exists, it is not only insufficient but also frequently ignored, leading to illegal and dangerous turns.

SR 101 is a busy thoroughfare, where speeding is common and visibility can be limited. This situation puts every resident, including myself, at risk each time we attempt to enter or exit Rivershire Place. Many drivers make illegal turns across the median, risking accidents and endangering not just themselves but everyone around. Without a dedicated turn lane, those of us who wish to follow traffic laws are forced into potentially dangerous situations.

Statistics show that dedicated turn lanes significantly reduce traffic accidents by offering a clear, safe path for vehicles to turn without obstructing traffic or encouraging risky maneuvers. Implementing such a measure at our intersection could prevent potential life-threatening accidents.

I urge local government officials and the Department of Transportation to take immediate action. Creating a designated turn lane at this critical point is not only a necessary step for the safety of residents but an essential measure for improving traffic flow and reducing the potential for collisions.

Please join me in demanding a dedicated turn lane at the entrance to Rivershire Place on SR 101. By signing this petition, we can press for swift and effective changes to protect our community and enhance our safety. Let us come together to advocate for safer roads and a better future.
