The Issue

In Wrexham, we are all too familiar with the overwhelming demand on our local hospital and A&E department. It's not just a personal issue to me but this affects everyone in our community. Our main hospital is constantly under pressure, with long waiting times and stretched resources. Many of us have experienced or know of someone who has faced delays in receiving critical care or treatments because of this ongoing issue.

Right in the heart of our community stands the old Groves High School which is a worn-down, unused building that could be the key to alleviating this dire situation. By repurposing this building into a community hospital, we can help manage the overflow of patients, providing essential space for clinics and treatments that are currently burdening our main hospital. This not only benefits those in immediate need of care but also allows our main hospital to focus on expanding its smaller departments that are currently limited due to spatial constraints. It also ensures that the educational covenant is maintained with students being able to train/work at the community hospital.

Statistics show that repurposing unused buildings for health services is a viable and cost-effective solution. In the UK, similar initiatives have proven fruitful, such as the repurposing of old office buildings into care facilities, significantly reducing wait times and improving patient satisfaction. By supporting this initiative, we can create a local healthcare environment that prioritizes efficiency, safety, and accessibility for all.

Moreover, the presence of a community hospital can serve as a focal point for community health initiatives, promoting wellness and preventive care, which can further reduce the pressure on existing healthcare facilities. The potential for improved health outcomes and community engagement is immense.

To make this vision a reality, we need support from the local community to make this happen to transform this building into a thriving community hospital.

Let's come together as a community to push for this vital change. Every signature brings us one step closer to a solution that benefits all of Wrexham. Please sign this petition to support the conversion of the unused building into a community hospital, ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to everyone in our area.
