John Cox has shockingly chosen to exploit a live bear for publicity, on his campaign trail. Wherever you sit on the political spectrum, carting a confined bear around the state of California to sit helplessly on display - amidst noisy crowds, flashing cameras and reporters - is absolutely unnecessary.

An animal is not a prop. One need only look at the photos to see that this PR stunt has gone terribly wrong. This animal is being used - nothing more than an attempt at publicity at a 1,000 pound bear's expense. 

The campaign theme is disturbing enough, using language like 'pretty boy' and 'beast' as references to what California needs or doesn't need in a leader. But the choice to exploit a helpless bear - a sentient animal with not a clue as to why it is where it is - must stop. 

Please encourage John Cox to reconsider his campaign stunt, by removing this bear from his campaign. I'll make him a 1,000 pound stuffed bear he can take in its place.
