With the Covid restrictions continuing, the NEED for FOOD across the Algarve has increased as poverty is catching many in its web.
As we had said a few months ago, we moved our social division into the UK based not-for-profit - Empowerment Gateway - because the social needs in our communities in the Algarve could not really be serviced by ASMAA to the level it needed to be serviced.
Having said that, ASMAA continues to support the "Food for Thought" program that started in March this year. Many of our own volunteers are working with Empowerment Gateway currently to assist with the increased demand for food that they are receiving daily.
But the "Food for Thought" shelves are nearly empty, and more and more families, many with small children are requesting assistance.
Management and volunteers are pulling their hair trying to make omelets with no eggs. Its been very heartbreaking at times, when they were confronted by those in need for food, and there was just not enough food in the shelves. Many an occasion, management digged into their own pockets to assist.
As a result, after a 2 month away (yes, the last email you got from us was about 2 months ago) ... WE ARE APPEALING to your heart to assist. HELP is disparately needed NOW! Not tomorrow or next year.

You don't even have to leave your home. You can help from your home, anywhere in the world with funds to enable the purchase of much needed food items for the “Food for Thought” program.
The BOTTOM LINE IS: The need for food has not decreased. Our stocks are very low. And the requests for support is increasing daily.
Our TARGET IS TO RAISE 5000€ = 500 Hundred families of 4 FEED FOR 14 DAYS
In 14 Days time its Christmas. We would like to make sure that each of the families we have been assisting and all of those that are approaching us daily can have a belly filled Christmas and enough food to last at least until the end of the year.
