Dear Friends and Supporters
When ASMAA got involved with the campaigns to stop drilling for gas and oil in the Algarve in 2010. we were often told that we were nuts, that the exploration was just “conspiracy theories”, that it would never go ahead.
Moving forward along the years, what we warned, became a reality. 15 contracts for drilling were being executed behind closed doors all over Portugal. We were aware of this and after we wrote to the EU, the Portuguese government was forced to publish all the contracts in 2015. ONLY then did many realize that what I had been warning since 2010 was real.
The GOOD News is that ALL active contracts in Portugal for oil and gas exploration in both onshore and deep offshore will be a thing of the past! The last two contracts held by Australis will, as of tomorrow - 30 September 2020, be no more. Portugal is now free of oil and gas exploration, and of the dangers of Fracking. Its a victory, and we THANK all of you that stood by us during the various campaigns. We dedicated over 10 years of our lives to the anti-oil campaigns. There’s no doubt that ASMAA played a critical and leadership role in stopping oil and gas exploration in the country. But without your support, we could not have done it.
Now, why am I telling you all of this?
Because we have a much BIGGER fight in front of us – Our duty to protect OUR CHILDREN, Protecting future generations of responsible, compassionate, creative, analytical, challenging the status quo, as well educated adults.
YES! I’m Talking about COVID19.
Worldwide schools are imposing draconian policies affecting all children irrespective of age. Portugal is no different, with many schools currently resembling more prisons than places of education and development.
We urge you … parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and family members and friends to take a stand and say, "STOP" the serious harassment and threat to your child’s health – both physical and mental.
Join us in actions to challenge the draconian measures being used against all of our children. Its time we all speak out loud, and add our voices of repudiation to this cause.
Yes, children all over the world need us! But all the kids attending schools in Portugal at the moment need us to take action - NOW! Before it’s to late for them.
Take a stand, start by signing this petition, and share it with your family and friends.
The Adults of Tomorrow thank you for standing up for them today!
SOME FACTS
According to 2018 statistics there’s 46,611 kids in educational institutions in the Algarve alone, of which 35128 are in primary and secondary schools. These are kids that are facing draconian measures daily. Restrictions include “not being able to leave their class rooms for up to 5 hours in some schools, with only a couple of minutes break”, “Not being able to SHARE anything – be it food, be it any other item that they would naturally share between them”” Not being allowed to sing” “Not being allowed to be without a mask for hours” ... and so many other restrictions. Is this really what you want the KIDS in your family or your friend’s kids to experience day in and day out? Without an end in sight?
What future will these kids experience as adults? What trauma will they carry with them forever?
If this carries on much longer, we will ALL be complicit in letting our kids be sick and having reduced immune systems with all the risks it brings.
TAKE NOTE! PAY ATTENTION! THIS IS A VERY, VERY SERIOUS SITUATION …
I’m going to ask that you sign and share the following petitions:
