Dear supporters | Caros amigos (Português em baixo)
We have received a huge amount of telephone and written messages questioning what are the facts regarding ENI/Galp’s “renunciation” letter. The callers have shown to be in various stages of uneasiness or perplexity about its content, and asked clarification from us at ASMAA.
To all these messages we have responded in the same way, and since we cannot add anything – YET - to what we have been saying, let us repeat what we have said:
- The letter from the ENI / Galp consortium is only a “Letter of Intent”, and should be read and analysed as such. It is a negotiation letter nothing else.
- If this Letter of Intent is going to result in the Galp/ENI walking away from their concessions and drilling plans in the Alentejo Basin; or in an extension to contracts with no known deadline for the same projects; we will only know when the Court of Loulé has issued its judgment in our injunction application.
- ASMAA did everything that could be done; we took each action at the right time in each and every situation that we were presented with.
- The injunction process is now in its final stage, and until we have in our hands the court judgement, which we don’t have yet, we can’t really say much more. But as soon as we receive it, we will make it public.
"We are very confident this time around. But we cannot fan speculation on what is or what is not without having concrete evidence in our hands. We can’t treat this type of information casually, they are factual and as such should be addressed and managed correctly”.
"We continue our work without stopping. Now with many more bodies in our ranks. Each one responsible for dealing directly with affected areas and regions.
But very soon, we will be able to reveal and ALL THE FACTS AND TRUTH WILL BE KNOWN. And based on it, we will all be better prepared to move forward to deal with any other challenge that is placed in our path.

But with all the happenings in this court battle our legal costs have gone through the roof. Last month we managed with help from some of you to catch-up some of our most important cost brought forward from December and early January, but we are still deeply in arrears, and we have to catch-up some of the costs that need to be paid.
Some of these are taxes that we have to pay the receiver for legal services provided (green receipts / retenção na fonte) and which have to be paid if we don’t want to be fined for late payments.

Caros amigos
Temos recebido inúmeras mensagens, telefónicas e por escrito, que revelam uma inquietação ou perplexidade em graus diversos àcerca do conteúdo da carta de “renúncia” do consórcio Galp/ENI.
A todas estas mensagens temos respondido da mesma maneira, e, uma vez que não podemos acrescentar nada - AINDA - ao que temos vindo a dizer, vamos repetir:
-- A carta do consórcio ENI/Galp é, apenas, um Manifesto de Intenções, e como tal deve ser lida e analisada.
-- Se esse Manifesto se vai concretizar quer num sentido -- abandono dos projectos de perfuração e exploração de petróleo inshore e onshore na Bacia do Alentejo; quer noutro -- adiamento, sem prazo ainda conhecido dos mesmos projectos; só o saberemos quando for conhecida a sentença do Tribunal de Loulé.
-- A ASMAA fez tudo o que havia para fazer, no tempo certo de agir em cada um dos casos e situações.
-- O processo que ora chegou a seu termo, tem uma sentença lavrada, cujo conteúdo ainda não é do nosso conhecimento. A todo o momento aguardamos que essa sentença seja passível de se tornar pública.
-- Estamos mais do que expectantes. Estamos, desta vez, muito confiantes no resultado. Mas não podemos atiçar esta fogueira de diz que diz-se sem provas nem dados. Estes casos não se tratam como se fossem 'estados de alma'. São factuais e como tal devem ser abordados e geridos.
-- Continuamos o nosso trabalho, sem desfalecimento. Agora, com mais exércitos nas nossas fileiras. Cada um a trabalhar nas áreas e nas regiões atacadas directamente.
Em breve, agora, podemos dizê-lo assim, A VERDADE SERÁ CONHECIDA.
E com base nela, então, avançar para novas etapas.

Mas com todos os acontecimentos nessa batalha judicial, os nossos custos tem aumentado. No mês passado, conseguimos com a ajuda de alguns de vocês pagar alguns dos nossos custos mais importantes de dezembro e início de janeiro, mas ainda estamos profundamente atrasados, e temos que recuperar um pouco dos custos que precisam ser pagos.
