I am creating this petition because the animals that are held in the City of Oakland animal shelters are being killed by euthanization if they do not get adopted. Oakland is euthanizing animals that they receive within a few days after arrival and also if the animal is not adopted in a timely manner due to financial issues. The animal shelter does not receive enough sponsors to keep funding care of all the animals within the shelters and many of those who do not be chosen for adoption are eventually killed. So I am asking as an animal care advocate to please support this petition and stop the euthanization of animals and to find a new method to keep the animals alive.
