Better Animal Welfare Laws in Tennessee

The laws in Tennessee exempt certain animals, such as horses, from being protected by some of the Animal Welfare statues in the state.  These antiquated laws must be updated to give all animals, including horses, the same protection under the law.  Law enforcement's hands are often tied and they cannot help horses that are being neglected and abused!  For more information about the laws and why they need to be updated, please visit: https://www.horseplushumanesociety.org/tnlaw/

Tennessee Representative Johnny Shaw, a House Agriculture, Natural Resources and House State Government member has been made aware of the problems with this law and he has said that he is interested in making an amendment to change the law where animals can get immediate assistance if they're suffering.

Please call 615-741-4538 and tell Johnny Shaw that you support changing this law to protect horses and other suffering animals. You can also email him at rep.johnny.shaw@capitol.tn.gov and tell him that you support changing the law.
