Replace Yondr pouches with alternatives

Replace Yondr pouches with alternatives
The Issue
I believe that Yondr pouches should be replaced with other methods of restricting phone use. While I believe that phone bans and restrictions have their own understandable reasons for existing, I do not believe that Yondr pouches are a good way to enforce these rules. There are plenty of other methods out there that have been used in the past.
Yondr pouches are unreasonably expensive and use up funds that could be better allocated to extracurricular activities that are currently underfunded. High cost aside, the pouches make it exceptionally difficult for students to communicate with family in case of an emergency or lockdown. If there's a fire and everyone has to run outside quickly, we'll all be stuck with locked phones, unable to tell our parents or guardians. Phones also do have their uses in the classroom, like projects or taking photos of notes. As an example, In my current history class, there are certain projects that involve some filming. The camera quality of Chromebooks is horrible, and actual cameras are expensive.
Instead of Yondr pouches, schools could make use of things that teachers have used in the past, like cardboard boxes or zip pouches. These things are much cheaper and easily accessible for students in case their phones are necessary. As an example, my chemistry teacher used to use small zip pouches, with one for each desk. Besides that, students at my school have actually respected the use of things like this in the past when certain teachers used them. These same students have no respect for the Yondr pouches and have found every possible way to get around using them. They're not foolproof. Students that want to slack off will find a way to slack off. In conclusion, there's just so many better options for enforcing the restriction of phone use.
