The Mayor of Neptune City called a meeting of internal stakeholders to discuss the future use of the obsolete town horn in our community for Monday, May 6, help her prep.
A tornado siren, is not a team intercom. In many neighbors' opinions, the only good use for the device is for public evacuation orders with clear instructions of what the public should do when we hear the loud alarm, something the town is not doing with the noise device at this time.
What do you want the Mayor to know before calling the Monday conversation to order?
Share your personal story of how the Neptune City blaring town horn affects you and your household. Tell the Mayor what you want her to know as she represents you in a conversation about your town's emergency response system on Monday. How does the noise make you feel when it alarms?
How you feel when you are awakened or otherwise alarmed by the noise knowing it is not asking that you respond? Does it bother your kids and their ability to focus? Does it bother your sleep because you work nights, sleep late on weekends or other ways it interferes with your life? Have you found that the decades of science showing the hazards of noise are presenting themselves in your family's lives?
Offer your experience: In what ways do you know the hazardous unnecessary horn affects your health, the health of children, or beloved pets? Tell the Mayor to transform our obsolete communication system into one that works for everyone. The horn cannot be more important than our well being.
Emergencies will happen and we support our responders in having the needed information they require. Many of us in town speaking up for the transformation of an obsolete horn communication system are first responders ourselves who deserve reliable emergency systems that do not cause harm, just like everyone else.
Have your voice heard and make sure that your Mayor knows what you want to see come out of the Monday meeting. Together, we can change our world to work for everyone. Reach the Mayor through this link with your comments.
PS remember to share the petition with all standing up for a transformed Neptune City where we can face emergencies with calm and confidence.
In Peace and Unity!
