Expressing the personal plight of my husband and I, there is an undeniable problem rooted in the animal control services in Peru, Indiana. On numerous accounts, distress calls from residents for immediate assistance to manage strays have been directed toward us. This distressing situation points to an absence of timely and effective response from the current team at Peru Animal Care and Control.

There have been numerous instances where the lack of action from the present Animal Control Officer has left helpless animals stranded. These repeated instances of inaction beg the question about the competence and commitment of the incumbent officer towards the welfare of animals; the very core of his responsibility.

While we cannot watch our beloved city's residents and its stray animals suffer because of inadequate management, there is a shining beacon of hope in Mr. Andrew Turnpaugh. Based on his previous commendable work within animal rescue operations and his passion for the cause, we believe appointing Mr. Turnpaugh as the new Animal Control Officer will drastically reform the way the city of Peru confronts this issue.

While we appreciate the duties of the existing role holder, we firmly believe that for the welfare of the stray animals and the overall sanctity of the city, a change is imperative. Therefore, we urge the City of Peru authority to consider our plea seriously.
