Replace Styrofoam with More Eco-Friendly Options

Replace Styrofoam with More Eco-Friendly Options
The Issue
It is time to start fighting for what cannot fight for itself; The Environment. Ever since the material polystyrene (widely known as styrofoam) was created, it has been polluting our Earth. Measuring foam pollution is difficult, because about 95 percent of the material is virtually weightless. It consists of bubbles of air trapped within plastic, which causes it to get blown out of disposal bins and largely contribute to our littering problem. It is also extremely expensive to recycle, so very few companies will accept it.
The pollution that styrofoam creates doesn't only affect the Earth, but also our own existence. The manufacturing, use, and disposal are all hazardous to human health. It is time to begin to fall back on our authentic ways of living. It is time to utilize the true intelligence that we have been so fortunate to acquire. It is time to reconnect with our home.
The variety of eco-friendly alternatives to replace styrofoam is rich in science and knowledge. The options range from products made out of organic substances to biodegradable plastics.
As community members of Omaha, Nebraska, we hold a lot of power in our hands. We can come together and help each other through this process of change. The last thing we want our community to go through is a stressful period of being unprepared for what is to come. Let it unite us.
Take on this challenge with me on being the first city in the midwest to embark on this change and make our stance known.
