Harry Stone Project Community Update!
We want to remain fully transparent with our community and share the short-term items and timelines discussed at the official walkthrough regarding Harry Stone Park. We’ve included the list below along with a photo of the park in use, showing how actively it is utilized by families and children and highlighting the importance of timely improvements.
As we continue working toward the long-term goal of a full park replacement, the items listed below represent the top safety and community-use priorities discussed with District 2.
Our goal is to ensure that commitments made to the community are clearly communicated and followed through as agreed.
These improvements are essential to the safety, accessibility, and usability of the park for all families and residents.
Items previously communicated as near-term (5–7 days):
- Removal of plywood and replacement of the climbing apparatus
- Installation of dog waste stations throughout park trails
- Addition of trash receptacles near the baseball dugout located closer to Millmar side.
- Abatement of ant piles near the playground
Additional agreed-upon items and community priorities (2 weeks to a couple of months):
- Construction of concrete slabs to relocate tables and/or add benches for parent seating
- Removal and replacement of existing playground surfacing to address exposed rust
- Removal of wood chips and installation of safer playground floor surfacing (rubber matting) to improve accessibility
- Remediation and replacement of mold-affected playground components
- Installation of additional lighting throughout the park
- Installation of fencing, particularly adjacent to the parking lot and playground along Materhorn
- Installation of speed bumps in the parking lots
- Replacement or upgrade of bleachers located along baseball field
- Repair and resurfacing of the tennis court
- Installation of physical barriers along the park perimeter to prevent unauthorized vehicle entry (ATVs/four-wheelers)
