Replace Disposable Plastic Cutlery at Heriot-Watt with a biodegradable alternative
The Issue
Calling on students and staff of Heriot-Watt to sign this petition to ban disposable plastic cutlery on the Heriot-Watt campus and replace them with environmentally friendly alternatives! There are plenty of sustainable options which you can find information about here:

Every year over 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into our oceans. It is estimated some 2.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris are polluting our oceans at this moment and around 100,000 marine creatures and 1 million seabirds are recorded as dying from plastic entanglement each year. Floating plastic bags look like jellyfish to sea turtles and the small hard pieces of plastic used to make plastic products are frequently mistaken as fish eggs by sea birds.
Help the Heriot-Watt Sustainability Society keep our oceans clean by signing the petition calling on the University to make this change!
