Replace Deuce-Plus-One Scoring with No-Ad Format in CIF High School Tennis Rules

Replace Deuce-Plus-One Scoring with No-Ad Format in CIF High School Tennis Rules
The Issue
As a devoted Junior varsity tennis coach at Walnut High school, CA, I find myself and others in the tennis community frustrated with the Deuce-Plus-One scoring format currently in use under the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) High School Tennis rules. This scoring system, aims to speed up play, yet making it easier for intermediate players by requiring "one" Advantage point as in classical scoring. In doing so, it muddles the scoring with complexity, often leading to errors and disputes amidst players. It is challenging for both coaches to teach, and players to understand and follow. Its ambiguity suggests that its utility is minimal in promoting fair and efficient games and in the long run it confuses players.
We propose that CIF High School Tennis rules adopt the widespread and more comprehensible No-Ad scoring format. This format greatly simplifies the scoring and eliminates the possibility of unnecessarily protracted games. It will allow the coaches to properly educate their players on the ways to manage their opportunities and game strategies.
Through this change, we aspire to make the CIF High School Tennis matches more conducive to good sport, providing a clearer pathway for new and seasoned players alike. Encourage clarity and fairness in High School Tennis scoring: sign this petition today and stand for the adoption of No-Ad scoring in CIF rules!
