There’s been a lot of discussion about this petition, so I want to restate what it’s really about.
1. Keep the Super Bowl Family-Friendly
The Super Bowl is one of the few live events that families of all ages watch together. The halftime show should be entertaining for everyone without explicit or controversial content. In recent years, some performances have crossed the line—featuring imagery or themes that simply aren’t appropriate for kids. Enough is enough. The Super Bowl should return to being a unifying event centered on talent, energy, and good music—not shock value or adult themes. Families deserve a show that everyone, from children to grandparents, can enjoy without worry.
2. Keep Politics Out of the Halftime Show
Increasingly, artists have used major stages to make political or divisive statements. The Super Bowl shouldn’t be one of them. It’s an American tradition meant to bring people together across all backgrounds and beliefs. The halftime show should respect all audiences and avoid messaging that alienates fans for their views, culture, or language. Many fans have expressed frustration when Bad Bunny made comments implying that audiences must learn a different language to enjoy (or simply understand) the show. The reality is that roughly 78% of Americans speak only English, and English remains the most widely spoken language in the world. Music should bridge differences—not highlight them. The halftime performance should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone watching.
3. Celebrate American Music Traditions
Country music represents a huge part of American culture and has been underrepresented on the halftime stage. While I personally believe George Strait would be an awesome performer, others have argued he is “too old,” “boring,” and/or wouldn’t want to do the performance. So in addition to George Strait, artists such as Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Cody Johnson, Brooks & Dunn, and others could deliver a show that honors American musical roots while being energetic, uplifting, and family-friendly. A collaborative performance featuring several of these artists would span generations and connect with audiences both nationally and globally—while staying true to the spirit of the sport and the country that created it.
This petition is about restoring halftime performances that showcase unity, respect, and shared enjoyment—something the entire family can look forward to together.
