Replace Adam French as Merrimack High School AD
The Issue
Merrimack High School for over two years now, has been negatively impacted by the leadership of Adam French as the Athletic Director. The lack of support and fair declaration from Mr. French has not only hindered the athletes’ performance but has also affected their morale and enthusiasm for sports.
When students don't feel supported by their administration, it can cause a cascade of issues that go beyond sports. For example, several teams have noted a consistent lack of resources and organization at meets and games, which has put our students at a disadvantage compared to other schools in the region. This situation is not justifiable when other schools in New Hampshire have thriving athletic programs with adequate support.
There have been multiple instances where important team decisions were made without consulting or even notifying the students and their families. This top-down approach to management has left our community feeling disenfranchised and disconnected from our own athletic programs. It's crucial for the athletic director to actively engage with both students and parents, creating an inclusive environment that fosters growth, participation, and excitement.
Furthermore, we believe that an AD should prioritize the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes, expanding access to training resources, and ensuring a rigorous adherence to safety protocols. Unfortunately, we have seen lapses in these areas under the current administration. It's time our school had an athletic leader who truly understands and values these principles.
We propose that the Merrimack High School administration initiate a transparent process to find a new Athletic Director who will prioritize our students' needs, understand the community’s input, and work collaboratively to restore our faith in the school's athletic programs.
Sign this petition to start the conversation about change for the betterment of our children and their athletic experiences. Together, we can make Merrimack a leading school in sports and student welfare once more.
