The issue

Our company recently underwent a long-awaited office renovation, a change we’ve all been excited about. As part of this transition, we were promised a more inclusive and modern workspace, and importantly for many of us, a dog-friendly environment. As a dog lover and someone who has personally benefitted from the companionship and joy that dogs bring into the workplace, this promise was especially meaningful.

Research has consistently shown that having dogs in the workplace can boost morale, reduce stress, and increase productivity. A study published in the International Journal of Workplace Health Management found that employees who brought their dogs to work experienced less stress throughout the day. Moreover, dog-friendly policies can significantly enhance work-life balance, making it easier for employees to manage their time and commitments outside of work.

Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. Without consultation or prior warning, the decision to allow dogs was abruptly revoked. This not only feels like a broken promise, but it also impacts employees who rely on the presence of their pets to maintain mental well-being.

Dog-friendly offices are not just about convenience or a trendy perk; they're an inclusive and progressive approach to workplace culture. Forward-thinking companies like Google and Amazon have embraced such policies, understanding the myriad benefits they bring to the company's culture and atmosphere.

We are advocating for our company's leadership to reconsider this decision and fulfill their original promise. By allowing dogs in the office, we can cultivate a more welcoming and productive environment that aligns with the modern values we seek to represent.

Join me in urging our company to create a workspace that truly caters to the needs and well-being of all employees. Sign this petition to show your support for reversing the ban on dogs at our renovated office.
