The NY SAFE Act was passed in 2013 under emergency procedures with little public debate or input from New York residents. While it was promoted as a public-safety measure, the law has proven to be ineffective, overly restrictive, and unfair to responsible gun owners across the state. We believe the NY SAFE Act should be repealed because: • It targets lawful gun owners instead of criminals, imposing restrictions that don’t stop illegal gun activity. • It has not shown meaningful improvements in public safety since its passage. • It was rushed through without proper public input or legislative review. • It burdens hunters, sportsmen, and legal firearm owners with rules that offer little real benefit. • It negatively impacts small businesses and local sporting communities. New York deserves laws that focus on actual crime reduction, not unnecessary restrictions on responsible citizens. We call on the New York State Legislature to repeal the NY SAFE Act and replace it with fair, effective, and constitutional policy
