On October 1st Durango School District banned all ‘political’ symbols from classrooms. The two flags targeted were the Black Lives Matter Flag as well as the Progress Pride Flag. The specific inclusion of these flags, existing to show support to minorities, as well as the vagueness of the Districts statement is concerning and leaves room up to interpretation. This ban removes crucial support that may be the difference between life and death for many at-risk minority teens.
