Waldo neighbors, it appears our collective voice is finally being heard at City Hall. See the attached video link for an important update.
Remember, Mayor Quinton Lucas campaigned during the 2019 Mayoral election with a promise to fix our streets. This week, the KCMO City Council (including both 6th District Council members Bough and McManus) passed RESOLUTION NO. 200114 to do the following:
Directing the Acting City Manager to address the immediate need to repair potholes and to develop a comprehensive plan to address the City’s response to potholes, to include goals for repairing potholes in a timely manner, reviewing of the street preservation program in order to prevent their yearly reoccurrence, a communication plan for better engagement with the public, and investigation of additional technology that can assist in the City’s efforts, as well as identifying funding for such plan.
Credit where credit is due. This is a great first step! Keep in mind, however, Missouri is proudly called the Show Me State for a reason. Waldo residents demand the City provide a definitive plan showing Waldo arterial road resurface dates. We don't need more rhetoric. We don't want the typical pothole patch band-aid that fails in weeks. This petition clears states the end goal and that's what we expect and deserve.
Please continue to call the 311 Action Center to report potholes. Please continue to contact Mayor Q and your 6th District council members. Tell them exactly what you expect when it comes to fixing our neighborhood roads.
