Why this petition matters

Started by Jonathan Yan

As active members of the Millbrae community, we implore our elected representatives of City Council of Millbrae to work closely with City Planning and Public Works to repair and repave the three-hundred block (300) of El Paseo.

We kindly ask the City of Millbrae to completely repave the block.

Property owners have observed that the 300 block has remained unimproved. Over the last several years, this particular thoroughfare has experienced increased traffic due to school activity at Taylor Middle School.  Our block also serves as an alternative outlet to Hillcrest for the local community.

This block gets all of the run-off into the storm drain from the Spur Trail.  As a result, the roads experience a large amount of degradation due to run-off.

Safety--condition of the roads pose a danger to health and welfare--and longer term costs to repair the road in the future--are concerns.

The roads have been long overdue for maintenance and recently, were torn up by the City's efforts to replace the sewer infrastructure.  We urge the City Council to spend the necessary funds NOT to patchwork pave the street over areas which were excavated, but COMPLETELY repave the block.

Existing asphalt has eroded due to weather and traffic.  Further more, curbs have become damaged.

The block is riddled with potholes and cracks that are uncomfortable to drive on and cause damage to our vehicles, costing drivers more every year in repairs. The state of the roads in our community are emblematic of a larger issue with American infrastructure that has grown immensely in recent years.

It's unbelievable that the roads have gone this long overlooked. With some of the highest property taxes in the country, it's fair to expect that our money be used as a return on the money we pay to live here - an investment in and of itself. To repave our streets would not only bring positive light from the public eye, but would also drive property values up for the town as a whole.
