The Issue

Pickleball is more than a sport to me and our local community in Marine Park, Brooklyn; it's a way to connect generations and promote a healthy lifestyle. It's the fastest-growing sport in the United States, loved for its social and health benefits. Despite these benefits, the dedicated eight pickleball courts in Marine Park are in desperate need of repair. Enthusiastic volunteers have maintained them with care and dedication, but the facilities are now deteriorating, threatening the joy and activity they bring to all of us.

These pickleball courts are not just for playing a sport; they are a hub of community interaction, where people of all ages come together, learn from each other, and foster lasting friendships. The current state of disrepair impacts not just the regular players but also deters newcomers who are eager to experience this wonderful sport. Cracks, uneven surfaces, and faded lines make the game challenging and less enjoyable, posing risks of injury and diminishing the court's accessibility to everyone.

We are calling on the local government and park management to prioritize the repairs and ensure the facilities are safe, smooth, and welcoming. Investing in these repairs will not only preserve the integrity of the sport but also enhance community well-being, encouraging more residents to take part in an active lifestyle.

Let's support the spirit of togetherness and health that these courts provide by acting now. Please sign this petition to urge the responsible authorities to invest in the future of our community through the repair and maintenance of our beloved pickleball courts in Marine Park, NYC.
