Repair the Jose P. Laurel Ave-SCTEX Underpass Now!

Condition of the road as of July 19, 2024

 

 

 

The underpass on Jose P. Laurel Avenue and SCTEX in Angeles, Pampanga, is in terrible condition and poses a danger to pedestrians, cyclists, and private/public vehicles. The road is full of potholes that can cause accidents and vehicle damage. During the rainy season, these potholes fill with water, making the underpass impassable, which is critical for emergency services.

Since March 2020, the underpass's condition has worsened, with potholes continuing to develop. The current state of the road leads to:

• Increased travel time as vehicles slow down to avoid potholes.
• Potential accidents due to vehicle damage or loss of control, especially for bicycles and motorcycles.
• Worsening road conditions over time, especially during heavy rain.
• Accidents due to poor visibility, as there is no lighting in the area.

Efforts have been made to seek help, including escalating the issue to local homeowner associations and requesting support from nearby barangays. We need the residents of Deca Clark Residences, Barangay Margot, Barangay Sapang Bato, and Barangay Anunas to sign this petition to urge local government action.

Goals:

• 1,000 signatures to bring this issue to the attention of the City Government.

• Barangay Margot: 12,229
• Barangay Sapangbato: 13,912
• Barangay Anunas: 26,063

Requested Actions:

• Repair the underpass to meet DPWH standards.
• Fix potholes on both sides of the underpass.
• Improve drainage to prevent flooding and pothole formation.
• Enhance lane markings for better visibility.
• Install lighting and surveillance/CCTV to increase safety and security.
