Repair & Cover Puyallup Skate Park

Repair & Cover Puyallup Skate Park
The Issue
For years, my kids and I, along with countless skaters, have found a second home at the Puyallup Skate Park in Washington. This isn't just concrete and ramps; it's a place of healing, friendship, and triumph. I've watched this park transform hesitant novices into confident athletes, witnessed friendships flourish, and seen skills honed on its beloved wood ramps. Removing these ramps would strip away not only the essence of the park but also the spirit that has nurtured so many over the years.
This park is renowned for its unmatched layout, catering to skaters of all ages and skill levels. Covering the park and repairing the infrastructure without altering its fundamental wooden design is crucial to maintain its unique charm and functionality. Transitioning it into a concrete park, as some have proposed, would be detrimental, driving away long-time skaters and erasing its identity.
Research shows that skate parks like ours contribute significantly to community health and social development. According to the Tony Hawk Foundation, well-established skate parks reduce youth crime rates and foster community engagement. By renovating and covering Puyallup Skate Park, we preserve a vital community resource that offers a safe haven and creative outlet for our youth.
Our proposal is to raise funds to mend the current structure and install a protective covering to prevent future damage. This plan ensures the park remains a vibrant part of Puyallup's landscape for generations to come while respecting the needs and wishes of its dedicated patrons.
Join us in safeguarding the future of Puyallup Skate Park. Sign this petition to support the restoration and preservation of our special corner of the community. Together, we can ensure it remains a beloved hub for skaters, families, and the entire Puyallup community.
