Progress: RFP for Court Replacement Now Underway

At the September 22, 2026 North Kingstown School Committee meeting, the tennis court issue was discussed at length. The administration agreed, with the committee's support, to issue an RFP for full court replacement right away, rather than waiting for the October 6 meeting.

Several community members spoke directly to this during public comment. Mike Michaud, a volunteer coach and Director of the North Kingstown Recreational Youth Tennis Program, and Shelagh Michaud spoke about the condition of the courts and the impact on both school teams and the town's youth tennis programs. Committee member Megan Reilly pushed hard for immediate action, noting the risk of capital projects like this one stalling without sustained follow-through, and pressed the administration to get the RFP out right away rather than waiting for a future meeting.
