Please join this Petition to repeal the X waiver requirement for MAT in congress . We have lost many to overdose and suicide during the pandemic and there is much urgency to get this done . Please consider writing your Rep and asking them to place  an amendment to the COVID relief bill the House of Reps are working on currently .

“I am writing you today to again thank you for your tireless work defeating our democracy and always fighting for all your constituents but most particularly the most vulnerable .
I am writing to you in urgency regarding the X waiver requirement for providers to be able to prescribe bupenorphine to patients with Opioid use disorder.
As you know overdose and Suicide rates among my people have skyrocketed during the pandemic , being able to prescribe MAT quickly and to whomever needs it no doubt will save lives .
The X waiver has always been a contentious topic amongst providers.  I’m not sure why an 8 hr free training that’s required  to safely prescribe a medication caused such an uproar when most dr must log in thousands of hours of CEUs to maintain licensure , the answer is stigma .
Here’s where I hope you can help
The repeal of the X waiver can only be done though a congressional act so I am respectfully requesting this be an amendment attached to the COVID relief bill because it applies to keeping our people alive during this pandemic by increasing amount of providers and an unlimited patient cap ( I mean who is going to say to the patient who is 1 over that cap and tell them , no I can’t help you ).
Included in the amendment should be a mandate to incorporate this 8 hour training as a CEU providers can take yearly to maintain their licensors ensuring stigma won’t ever be a reason doctors won’t prescribe MAT .”
