Recently Green Sands Trust (GST) have closed Woburn Bike Park and the Aspley Wood XC trails, with the stated reason being “unauthorised trail digging and being unsafe”.  We could go into the semantics of it by acknowledging that GST are there regularly, the people building are known to GST and they are volunteers, where GST use volunteers to maintain trails that generate them revenue.

The issue:  Closure of these iconic trails and bike park will cause untold damage to adults and minor alike, by taking away the ONE thing that keep them sane, riding and being free!  The government  has identified that mental health (as a result of the pandemic and associate financial issues) will be a big drain on the economy and cost all of us more money, not to mention the important bit, it helps keep us going avoiding mental health issues.  By GST taking away our ability to ride, they are adding to the mental health pandemic!

People have made careers by riding Woburn and there are untold up and coming new talents which will have their futures ripped away from them if GST do not act quickly.  The trails and park are also a contributor to the local community, with revenues going to local shops and businesses.

What do we want:  Quick, open and reasonable discussions to happen NOW to open up the bike park for the April school holidays.  We cant afford a slow response from Woburn, so please get behind this petition, to show GST that Woburn is important to us all and if they need some changes, let us know and we will support.
