Let us reopen the Walsall-Lichfield Railway.

In recent years, work has begun between Wednesbury and Brieley Hill to reopen the line for metro and freight usage in 2023.
There are no plans for the Lichfield-Walsall section to reopen. When asked about reopening. West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street claimed there was low demand to reopen the railway and it wouldn't be till 2040s it could be reopened.
This is a wasted opportunity to reconnect Walsall to the main line for services to Stoke on Trent, Stafford, Crewe, Tamworth and Burton upon Trent. I am calling for signatures on this petition to change the minds of the transport bodies and try to get them reassessing the line as being possibly reopened.
To go to Lichfield it takes over almost an hour to get there as you would need to go into Birmingham and then out via Sutton Coldfield or on the Chase Line to Rugeley and then onward to London. If this line was to be reinstated then it would take on average half an hour or less.
This served Walsall, Rushall, Pelsall, Brownhills, Hammerwich and Lichfield.
Please share this petition so that Walsall can reconnect to its neighbouring county of Staffordshire and this will increase tourists who visit Lichfield and Walsall. It will also help ease congestion near New Street station for freight traffic and could be a vaulable assest to the suburbs of Walsall and Lichfield.
