As a patron of the respected Royal Oak Hotel in Cessnock, I can personally vouch for its importance to our local community. The establishment doesn't only provide alcoholic slushies, affordable beverages, and a DJ ready to ignite the excitement of the night, but it also serves as a cherished social hub where memories are forged.

However, following its closure, many of us are bereft of this cherished spot that we used to frequent after visiting another local favorite, Pedens. It's not just the loss of the unique ambience, but also a core part of our community festivities and personal bonding, that has been dealt a blow by this closure.

Our area, Cessnock, has seen an increasingly vibrant nightlife scene over the years, contributing significantly to local tourism and the economy. According to Australia's Bureau of Statistics, pubs and hotels contribute 3 percent of Australia's Gross Domestic Product (source: Australian Bureau of Statistics), emphasising the potential economic implications of the Royal Oak Hotel's closure.

In consideration of these factors, the importance of the Royal Oak Hotel to our community, both socially and economically, cannot be overemphasized. Therefore, this petition calls on the relevant authorities to work towards the reopening of the Royal Oak Hotel.
