Reopen the community centre in South Road, Takeley
The Issue
At present, our breakfast club runs at Roseacres Primary School while our after school club takes place at the Silver Jubilee Hall. The distance between these venues is not ideal, especially during the winter months when children have to trek 15-20 minutes in the cold and rain. If we had access to the community centre located in South Road, just 3 minutes away from the school, we could offer earlier start times and significantly improve the experience for everyone involved. Our children could have more time to play, learn, and socialise in a safe environment.
Reopening the community centre would not only benefit our children but also our entire Takeley community. With all the new housing developments in the area, creating a hub where people of all ages can come together is more important than ever. It can serve as a venue for meet and greets, fun activities for our older generation, and a safe space for our teenagers. This would foster a spirit of togetherness, ensuring that all members of our community, from the younger to the older generation, have a place where they feel welcome and valued.
The community centre in Takeley has the potential to be a lifeline to many, with the shelter housing just a short distance to travel, they could enjoy morning teas and social activities which would hugely benefit their wellbeing, countering loneliness and creating more connections within the community.
We need your help to make this a reality. Please sign this petition for the reopening of the community centre in South Road, Takeley, and bring back the heart of our community. If we are successful and you wish to volunteer at our new community centre, leave a short message in the comments. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.
