Citizens of Brunswick, Georgia want a year-round heated pool. Families, seniors, lap swimmers, athletes, and everyday residents need access to swimming for health, safety, and recreation throughout the year — not just in summer. It was available before — why not now?

Surrounding communities already offer this access:

    •    Jesup → heated pool

    •    Camden County → year-round heated pool

    •    Chatham County → year-round heated pool

    •    Statesboro → year-round heated pool

Brunswick has the gas supply. With a new heater, pool covers, and plastic wind covering on the fence, heating costs could be reduced — and community programming (lap swim, lessons, and water aerobics) could provide the revenue to cover ongoing expenses.

A year-round heated pool would:

    •    Provide health and wellness benefits for all ages — lap swim, water aerobics, and rehabilitation programs.

    •    Ensure equity and access, giving all families a safe and affordable local option.

    •    Increase safety, since ongoing swim lessons lower the risk of drowning.

We, the undersigned, ask the City Commission and City Manager to re-install heaters and open the Brunswick Recreation Pool year-round. Our community needs this, our citizens are asking for it, and it’s time for Brunswick to join surrounding counties in offering year-round access.
