Reopen Shoppers Food Warehouse in Colmar Manor, MD

The Issue

Since December 2019, Shoppers has closed or sold over 17 stores in the Washington and Baltimore areas. The Shoppers Food Warehouse in Colmar Manor, Maryland was one such location affected by this wave of closures. This particular store was sold to Compare Foods, which managed to operate in our beloved neighborhood from 2020 until its closure in 2025.

This store was not just a grocery outlet; it was a cornerstone of our community. A place where local residents could access affordable and diverse food options, meet neighbors, and support a local business. Its closing has left a void in our community, making it inconvenient for many of us to find the groceries we need.

The economic impact is palpable. With the closure of these stores, jobs have been lost and local economies have been weakened. Reopening the Shoppers in Colmar Manor would not only restore these valuable community resources but also revitalize our local economy, create jobs, and strengthen our community bonds.

In light of this, I am urging any potential investors or stakeholders who recognize the significance of this location to step forward and facilitate the reopening of Shoppers in Colmar Manor. The thought of someone filling out a check to bring back our cherished store resonates deeply with me and many others in our area.

Along with reopening the Colmar Manor location, I hope for the revival of the five most recently closed locations in Maryland and Virginia. Each of these communities deserves easy access to quality grocery products and the economic support that these stores have provided in the past.

Let's unite to bring Shoppers Food Warehouse back to Colmar Manor and support the revitalization of our local communities. Please sign this petition to show your support for reopening these essential community assets.
