Sahand came to the United States in 2011 to build a better life. He worked hard, helped others, and dreamed of raising a family in peace. Instead, he became the victim of lies and manipulation that destroyed his freedom.

 

Shortly after arriving in America, Sahand showed kindness to a woman in need—giving her and her young child a place to stay and even helping her buy a car. But when he tried to distance himself, she turned on him. First, she sued him with false claims over the car. Then, in a devastating act of revenge, she went to the police and falsely accused him of harming her child.

 

With no resources and only a public defender, Sahand sat in jail for more than 18 months. Desperate to be free, confused, and without proper legal help, he accepted a probation deal just to get out. But that decision destroyed his life. Immigration detained him immediately afterward, and he has lived under the shadow of deportation ever since.

 

Years later, Sahand rebuilt his life. He married, worked hard, and became the proud father of a daughter and a newborn son. But immigration agents arrested him again—this time to deport him to a third country. Now, he is locked in immigration jail, separated from his wife and baby boy, while his lawyers fight to reopen his criminal case.

 

Sahand has always said: “If I had done this crime, I would sign 30 years. But I didn’t. I just want the truth heard.”

 

The woman who accused him has a long history of deception and has harmed many others. Yet Sahand is the one paying the price. He is a husband, a father, and a friend who deserves justice, not punishment for a crime he did not commit.

 

We demand:

 

That the courts reopen Sahand’s criminal case so the truth can finally come out, and that immigration authorities release him from detention while he fights for justice.
