The issue

Tennis has always been my passion. Standing on a court, racket in hand, and the pure thrill of hitting a ball. Many residents in Whitehorse, VIC, share this passion. The tennis courts near the train station were not only a place for us to play but a vital community hub. They brought together players of all ages, and the joy of hitting the court was felt by everyone who gathered there. But one day, out of the blue, it closed.

These courts were an essential part of our lives, they helped us stay fit and stay connected. This issue has been brought up many times by many people, and yet, the issue remains unsolved. If the cost is the issue, maybe partnering up with local businesses could solve the issue, or a community fundraiser. Money should not be the reason to deny people the right to remain active.

By opening the tennis courts again, we will assist in bringing new life to an important community gathering place and get young and old active and involved. Let's bring back the sense of community that makes Nunawading what it is now, except stronger.

Childhood obesity is getting out of hand due to limited daily activity. Authorities are aware of this. And yet they put it off, saying that “They’ll come to their senses.” This is not right, and we need your commitment to change this.

Whitehorse, all we ask of you is to take 2 minutes of your time to sign this petition to show your support, and continue to be a core part of our community. Hopefully, there will be a victorious ending to this story!
