On Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 in a rural town in Washington County MO, Andrew Pierce (33) and Ethan Civey (27) allege they discovered 18 year old Mikayla Jones deceased from an apparent drug overdose. Rather than contact authorities, or call 9-1-1 these two individuals chose to wrap Mikayla’s body in a comforter, place her in the trunk of a car, and discard her body on the side of a wooded highway where she laid for two weeks before Andrew Pierce confessed.  The two individuals also attempted to destroy and discard Mikayla’s cell phone and any evidence of her presence in their home. Briley Brackett, who took her to this house, hasn’t been charged with anything, but there is high suspicion she knows more than she’s telling. All three lied multiple times to authorities, and even to Mikayla Jones’ mom when asked about her whereabouts. 

The Jone’s family privately paid for an autopsy to be performed by Dr. Jane Turner.  Her report stated Mikayla had multiple contusions on her lower extremities. She also had a fractured skull. Mikayla’s toxicology came back with a trace amount of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl, however, per Dr. Jane Turner, Mikayla did not have a lethal amount of drugs in her system, therefore this trace amount did not support an overdose. In her report, Dr. Turner did suggest possible homicide given the circumstances that occurred. 

A year has passed, Mikayla’s case has now been transferred to the Attorney General’s office out of St. Louis because the original prosecuting attorney stepped down.  The only investigation done on this case was the first two weeks she was missing and briefly after Andrew Pierce confessed where her body was. The Missouri State Highway Patrol report raises more questions than answers. It shows a total lack of thoroughness and completion.  Ethan Civey changed his story seven times. The original detective on her case caused negligence and was taken off her case. So, once that happened the sheriffs office stopped all communication with the Jones family and quit their investigation as well, This was last summer. 

Today, 5/17/22 the Jones family met with the Attorney General’s Office for the first time since they took over the case in April. They explained they were not doing any additional investigation. They were keeping the current charges as is:

1.  Abandonment of a Corpse 
2. Tampering with physical evidence 

We’re collecting signatures requesting the Attorney General to use their resources for a proper investigation. Mikayla Jones deserves justice!! 

The Jones family have given them plenty of information to review but she said “it won’t matter”.  WELL….MIKAYLA JONES DOES MATTER!!
