The City of Jersey City must urgently reopen the firehouse at 283 Halladay St, which has been closed since March 2017. The closure of this vital facility compromises the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. The distance to the next closest fire stations significantly increases response times in emergencies, putting residents and properties at increased risk--every second counts in the event of a fire. This closure has certainly resulted in rising response times, potentially putting lives in danger. Reopening this firehouse is essential to restore critical fire protection services and ensure the safety of the community.

UPDATE: On January 11, 2025 there was another fire in our neighborhood on Bramhall Ave just two blocks from the closed firehouse.
