Reopen Choppington Station, Northumberland

Reopen Choppington Station, Northumberland
The Issue
Choppington Station, on the railway between Morpeth, Pegswood, and Bedlington closed to passengers in April 1950, and completely in 1964, however massive housing growth in surrounding communities such Bedlington, Choppington, and Guide Post since that time has meant that this area would be well served by a reopened station near to the A1068 at Choppington, which would be a very convenient station for these areas, with regular buses along the A1068 providing easy connections.
The station site is ideally positioned, sitting between Bedlington, on the newly opened Northumberland Line giving a direct route to Newcastle, whilst Morpeth and Pegswood (at opposite ends of a triangular junction that splits the line at Hepscott), allow another connection towards Newcastle via Morpeth, or via Pegswood towards Berwick-Upon-Tweed, and Edinburgh (using the proposed Northumberland Coast Loop route (Newcastle - Bedlington - Pegswood - Berwick - Edinburgh)).
The success of the Northumberland Line has shown that a new station at Choppington is likely to be highly successful once reopened, and the station could have a wide range of services calling there, right from the outset as a Newcastle - Morpeth - Bedlington service is already proposed once Bedlington station is completed (hopefully later in 2025).
Lets see a new station opened at Choppington as soon as possible to give even better connections to and from this area of south east Northumberland!
