We are bringing together new evidence to prove Richard Joey Hollingsworth should NOT spend the rest of his life behind bars. From conflicting testimonies, to actual footage that states his testimony was TRUE. 
Joey was just a child when put in the horrific situation his, at the time, girlfriend put him in. She was already in a confrontation with other girls, when she called Joey to come save her. Then arrived to a man in basket ball shorts and flip flops with a gun drawn towards them. The man did not identify himself as a police officer, and was fatally shot. But because he was a cop, they’re trying to keep him in prison* for the rest of his life, without parole. He acted in self defense, which Alabamas does have laws for. Alabama Code 1975, § 13A-3-23 “A person may use deadly physical force and is legally presumed to be justified in using deadly physical force in self-defense or in the defense of another person pursuant to section (5), if the person reasonably believes that another person is: Using or about to use unlawful deadly physical force.”  Joey was only 18 when this horrific accident took place in 2009. He has been serving his sentence since then. Anyone who knows Joey knows he wouldn’t have done this without seriously thinking someone else was going to get hurt. 
We are hoping with this petition signed, plus evidence, he can be heard! Hoping to get a motion to reopen and reconsider his time he is serving.
