The Issue

It all started when our school administration decided to block access to all videos on our computers. As a student who relies heavily on educational videos to supplement my learning, this decision has proved to be nothing short of a disaster. Whether it's accessing tutorial videos for math concepts, understanding complex science experiments, or even watching classic literature analysis, videos have always been an integral tool to grasp the material adequately and efficiently.

Unfortunately, this new directive from our administrator has put a pinhole in our learning pipeline. How are we expected to excel in an increasingly digital and visually-oriented world when we're deprived of fundamental resources? We're not just talking about YouTube cat videos here. The blocked content includes resources from credible platforms like Khan Academy, Ted-Ed, and National Geographic, which are designed to enrich our knowledge and understanding.

Statistics show that visual learning can improve comprehension by as much as 400%. Blocking these educational resources is like taking textbooks away from students. It's a move that doesn't just inconvenience us; it actively hinders our ability to learn. With students around the globe engaging with content online more than ever, limiting our access here puts us at a competitive disadvantage.

I propose a thoughtful review of the current restrictions. Instead of a blanket ban, let's work together to create a comprehensive whitelist that allows educational videos to remain accessible. This can include major educational platforms with approval from teachers, ensuring that students have the tools they need to succeed.

Please sign this petition to urge our school administrators to reconsider their decision. With your signatures, we can make a powerful statement that education should not be restricted by unnecessary barriers. Let’s stand together for a future where technology and knowledge go hand in hand.
