The Issue

Growing up in Ocala, we were fortunate to have attractions like Wild Waters and Silver Springs Park with its animals. Those were the days when families, especially those with young children, had options for entertainment and enjoyment. Today, Ocala is slipping into the monotonous pace of becoming just a retirement city. We have lost our vibrant past, swapping it for limited recreational activities—what are we left with, just a boat ride?

Now, more than ever, Ocala needs a rejuvenation. The young families here are struggling to find fun, engaging places to take their children. My heart aches as I watch this city where I grew up transform into an unexciting place for the people who have been here our whole lives . We cannot let the soul of our city fade away like this.

Ocala's decision-makers need to listen to their community. If the city is capable of collecting substantial taxes from its residents, shouldn't some of that revenue be allocated to bringing back family-friendly attractions? This is not merely a want—it's a necessity.

Think about the joyous sounds of children laughing and playing, the families gathering together under the sun, creating memories that will last a lifetime. This is what we want for Ocala. Residents deserve more than a quiet retreat—we deserve a community that thrives with laughter and excitement.

Join me in urging the city leaders to reconsider how they invest in our community by signing this petition to bring back a water park to Ocala. Let's make this change possible by uniting our voices and advocating for a brighter, more invigorating future for ourselves and the generations to come. Sign this petition to bring life back to Ocala!
