Dear Friends, I’m writing to urge you to vote YES on Measure C for rent control on June 6! We know that many of our seniors, students, nurses, and teachers already cannot afford to live in our community, for Sonoma County is the 10th highest rental market in the country with only 1% vacancy rate. Rent control is a step in providing protections for tens of thousands of our neighbors. Let’s help in keeping the fabric of our community strong by passing Measure C because with Rent Control, Santa Rosa will be more stable as a community, crime rates will be reduced, schools and students will be more likely to thrive, and our businesses will be more successful. Here in Santa Rosa, our destinies are intertwined. In the most real way, we are under one roof. We have a responsibility to care for everyone in our community. This campaign is bringing us together. The folks who are working on it are students, seniors, community groups, environmental groups, churches, and unions. We are all working so hard because we know what is at stake - this is about our values and our future. Join me in voting Yes on C for Rent Control in Santa Rosa this June 6! As you know, we are in a critical time where we must stand up for each other and fight the almost 1 million dollars pouring in from Chicago, Los Angeles and Sacramento Real Estate Corporations. Santa Rosa is NOT for Sale and this June 6th we must make it clear to the outside forces trying to buy our community while kicking us out of it!
