While this petition did not achieve the desired effect of saving the Roast Office, please continue to circulate and sign. Before closing this petition down, I plan to print the final number and some of the incredible comments that were shared. I then will frame and present this to Carol and staff as a memorial to the time that a group of strangers came together to try and save the sense of community, safety, and familiarity that Carol and staff provided and an amazing place that we all held dear. 

For the past eight years, my family and I have found solace and enjoyment at the Roast Office, a place that has become more than just a coffee shop for us. It's a community hub where we relax, connect with friends, and meet our neighbors in Pinehurst, NC. The Roast Office is a beloved part of our lives and an irreplaceable staple within our local community.

Recently, we learned of a troubling decision by the Given Tufts Board of Directors and the Given Tufts Bookshop management to potentially end the lease of this treasured establishment on July 31st. This decision stems from a personal dispute rather than considering the collective voices and dependency of the community. It's particularly disappointing when this non-profit organization, supported by community donations and public grants, chooses to disregard public sentiment in such a dismissive manner. Within the last year, the board has also appointed the wife of a board member as executive director of the foundation and as manager of the Bookshop.

The Roast Office is more than just a business; it's a place where lifelong memories are created for countless families. Its closure would not only impact the owners and employees but also the daily lives of many residents who cherish their time there. Many of us in the community have relied on the Roast Office for social gatherings, a peaceful spot for work, and an inviting atmosphere that welcomes everyone.

We urge the Given Tufts Board of Directors to reconsider their stance and renew the lease of the Roast Office. Addressing this issue by engaging in open dialogue with the community could pave the way for mutual understanding and a resolution that benefits all parties involved.
