Renew SEAL Team: Keep Supporting Veterans & Delivering High-Quality Military Stories
The Issue
If you want to watch some military action in film, there are many movies and TV shows available, but few portray them with as much thought and realism as SEAL Team does.
Since its inception in 2017, SEAL Team has pushed the limits of realism in military filmmaking: former US Navy SEALs Mark Semos and Kenny Sheard are among the show's writers; veterans make up over 70% of its crew; and former US Delta Force operator Tyler Grey plays Trent Sawyer, a main character until the end of Season 5.
Beyond compelling action and storylines, SEAL Team has raised global awareness on issues countless veterans continue to face in the US and around the world, including mental health and veteran healthcare. SEAL Team may be the only show depicting the raw emotion of soldiers, and how they carry the weight of the battlefield to their families and lives at home.
SEAL Team has been nominated for the "Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)" and "Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited Series, or Movie" Emmy Awards. The show has 4.7 stars on Google, 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 7.8/10 on IMDb.
In 2021, SEAL Team was not renewed by CBS and faced cancellation. In the face of this, star actor David Boreanaz ("Jason Hayes"), rallied support for the show, which was later renewed. Similar shows like S.W.A.T. have also faced cancellation, only to be renewed after the community came together.
Although Boreanaz has expressed that it feels right for the story of Jason Hayes and Bravo Team to end with Season 7, the fact is that the need for awareness of severe veteran issues is unchanging, and an end to SEAL Team would leave a gap nothing else could adequately fill.
Whether you are a veteran, active service member, law enforcement, or avid supporter, thank you for taking the time to read this petition and for your protective support—it means the world to us as fans. Your signature goes far beyond the TV screen.
