Renew Elsbeth for a 4th season (ideally a longer one)

The Issue

Whereas; in these dark times don't we deserve more shows that are bright and fun rather than the eleventy-millionth gritty procedural and in being a spinoff Elsbeth is basically the perfect middle ground between original and reboot

Whereas; so many Broadway stars/theater references this show deserves to go on to have a musical episode (Psych did one and this show has the same kind of magical-realism and Carrie Preston's done theater but I don't know if she sings)

Whereas; unless the show lasts far beyond the zone of impact for the strikes (as this TV season was what was dealing with the fallout) it'll forever be associated with them in the equal-and-opposite way Pushing Daisies was with the last round of strikes since instead of a casualty it was one of a few to get past the radar and also it'll forever be associated with the controversy regarding the cancellation of several CBS shows during the 2023-2024 season when it isn't part of the problem, shows premiering this season on CBS like Matlock, Watson, or NCIS: Origins are

Whereas; network TV shows deserve longer seasons and with shorter ones things feel bigger than they are and there's so much more possibility when you're not constrained to only a handful of episodes per half-a-year (like look at this season with the big arc with the evil judge and all these little arcs like the trial or Kaya becoming detective)

Whereas; there is so much not just representation already but representation potential (from strong women and PoC to good queer representation and I don't just mean the clear chemistry people see between Elsbeth and Kaya that if they were to be revealed as bisexual and slow-burn into a couple like many consultant-and-detective (now that Kaya's about to be one) pairs before them could make the show stand even more out from the crowd in a positive way) to Elsbeth's clear ADHD-coding having the ability to potentially lead into an adult-diagnosis arc that could help so many adult viewers) that a show like this could have an amazing impact if allowed to continue. Heck, what other procedural could pull off an interracial female-female version of your typical "procedural lead partner duo" where their department/precinct/whatever basically feels like it has a token white guy

Whereas; the stories this show tells can appeal to all ages and counter the perception of network procedurals as just "boomer TV", sure you still can get the target 18-49 demographic tuning in but a whole family could watch Elsbeth together if you hide the eyes of the little ones during the intro-murder-y-bits if they get a little too scary

Therefore; CBS should give Elsbeth a 4th season (and ideally one longer than 12-14 episodes as it deserves more than that esp. when other network shows have more than that) because it's a bright magical-realist procedural that takes both the Sherlock Holmes and Columbo formulas and infuses them with way more than a dash of representation and way more than a pinch of color (and I'm not just talking Elsbeth's outfits) to grant something for everyone
