Received an email this afternoon from Kate Wilcott, who works in arts/culture/growth and community services. It stated the following:

"

The policy for naming and renaming public assets (streets, buildings, parks, etc.) states that “The City will not consider naming proposals that make direct or indirect reference to recent events or recently deceased individuals until two (2) years have elapsed since the event or death.”

Because of this, the City would not proceed with the naming vetting process until 2026. I have received public feedback regarding your proposal, and I will continue to keep it all on file until the Civic Commemoration Committee reviews this file again in two years. You can reconnect with me as the time gets closer for any updates you may have.

I understand the desire to have this process vetted sooner, but we must follow the policy adopted by council."

My mindset from the very beginning of this has been whatever it takes and However long it takes, and that has certainly not changed. I've set a calendar reminder in April of 2026 to get on the horn and get the ball rolling. I am beyond appreciative of each and every one of you for your support, and I am determined to see this through with every bit of my stubbornness and resolve. Frankly Nick deserves nothing less.

Yours gratefully,

Scott Bordage
